Membership in Dementia Care Alliance is a coveted achievement for any home care agency. Achieving Gold Standard membership is downright enviable.

There will be many that want regular membership in DCA for obvious reasons, but only a few will be able to meet the rigorous qualifications. Even fewer will rise to Gold Standard level.

So, what qualifies for Gold Standard membership?

  • Your agency must be in good standing for 12 consecutive months.
  • A minimum of 50 points must be earned in each preceding year of membership.
  • The minimum required to maintain regular membership is 30 points, earned as follows:
    • 20 Points awarded for completing all quarterly training sessions
    • 10 Points awarded for successfully completing first 12 months of membership
  • Participating above the minimum requirements earns your agency additional points:
    • 10 Points for each additional training hour beyond the required 2-hour, quarterly sessions in the same membership period.
    • 20 Points for agency assessment by Engaging Alzheimer’s staff

As you can see membership in DCA is not for the faint-hearted. Unless and until you embrace the principles behind Dementia Care Alliance and adopt the philosophy that dementia care expertise is the key to success, the merits of DCA membership will be of little value.

There are over 70,000 home care agencies in the U.S. and this number is growing daily. We are building Dementia Care Alliance for those agencies that want to rise to the top, so that our family clients will have a referral resource in which they can have confidence.
